Adult Ministries

As a church we recognize that each persons gifts and strengths are different and try to facilitate ministry for each person who calls Calvary Baptist home. Talking to a Ministry Leader or an Overseer is the best way to find out how to get involved. The ministries in our church are as follows:

Music and Worship

music

Our music teams facilitate worship at Calvary Baptist services, and we sing mostly contemporary praise and worship songs and hymns. We are not looking for professionalism in our music and worship teams, but Christians who are devoted to Christ and who can help lead a time of worship through instruments and voices.

Small Groups

Small Groups are growing at CBC. This year we have six groups— some for families and others only for adults. Dynamics differ between groups. Some include singing and worship, others focus on prayer and a Bible study. Talking to the group leaders is the best way to find out if you would like to join their group. Being involved in a small group is a pivotal way to create relationships within the church and grow in love for Jesus Christ and for each other.

Missions

The Missions Team’s goal is to promote interest and involvement from our church in outreach at local, Canadian, and cross-cultural levels. This includes regular updates on ministries that our church supports, presentations by visiting missionaries, local outreach activities, and trips abroad. The Missions Team supports various missionaries and outreach activities our church is involved in including missions trips to Ireland, Romania, and Guatemala.

Buildings and Grounds church

A physical church building needs upkeep, and the building and grounds committee takes care of that. They fix things that need repair, build things that need building, and participate in larger projects like giving the parking lot a face-lift, upgrading the basement or building a baptistery tank.

Prayer and Care

The prayer and care committee is designed to help foster an atmosphere of care for one another within the family of Calvary Baptist Church as a demonstration of Christ’s love. They are involved in activities like visiting seniors on their birthdays, having sing-songs at the Queen Street Manor, praying for and giving cards to people in the church going through hard times, giving out grocery certificates to those in need, sending notes to students who are away studying, and more.

Socialsocial

As our church grows, we find ourselves hosting more and more social events. The social committee coordinates potlucks, meals for people in need, Lenten lunches, hospital fall teas, funerals, summer barbecues, special events like fall supper and pancake breakfast, meals on wheels, all church picnics, seasonal decorating, and wedding or baby showers. The social committee is a great place to be involved if you like organizing events, decorating, or talking to people.

Greeters

The greeters at CBC serve by simply welcoming people to the service as they come in the door between 10:15 am and 10:35 am. They are appreciated for the hospitable atmosphere they provide to both guests and friends.

Ushers

Need a bulletin to figure out what is happening at CBC?  Want to know where to sit if things look a bit full in the sanctuary?  CBC Ushers help serve the church by helping things flow smoothly throughout the morning service.

Sunday School – Adult

Sunday School classes are a vital and dynamic small group environment for growth in the church. Our goals are to help people grow in their love for Jesus Christ, to help them understand and apply the truths of God’s Word, and to build relationships.  There are separate classes for adult women, and adult men.  New this year, we also have a mixed class!
